This is not about pushing limits or chasing adrenaline. It is about letting go and simply enjoying winter. Guided by a local expert, guests explore Norikura’s pristine snow landscapes on snowshoes — walking through untouched forest paths, across a frozen lake, and along quiet trails known only to locals. The light, dry powder makes every step effortless, inviting relaxation and play rather than effort. The journey ends with a warm, casual and local lunch inside a transparent dome, surrounded by snow. It is a joyful, unpretentious winter experience designed to leave guests with one simple feeling: that was genuinely fun.
Norikura offers world-class powder snow without the crowds. This experience is ideal for clients who want to enjoy Japan’s winter beauty in privacy and calm, rather than busy resort environments.
Designed for guests to relax and clear their minds, the snowshoe walk emphasizes comfort, light movement, and sensory pleasure over physical challenge — making it accessible and highly enjoyable.
Walking across frozen lakes and quiet forest paths reinforces the feeling of accessing a place most travelers never see. This sense of exclusivity resonates strongly with high-end travelers.
A local guide gently introduces Norikura’s unique identity — including its role as the geographic center of Japan and the country’s highest watershed divide — enriching the experience without overwhelming it.
The experience pairs naturally with private onsen bathing, fine local dining, and luxury lodgings, and works equally well as a soft adventure day between ski or relaxation-focused programs.

Your journey begins with a walk through the pristine forests of Norikura Kogen.
Led by your private guide, you will wander through a quiet, untouched forest with no one else around. Dive into the fresh snow, or slide down pristine powder hills—your guide will take you to hidden winter playgrounds known only to locals.
The highlight of this tour is what awaits after your descent: a peaceful rest inside a transparent dome set in the middle of a snowy expanse, followed by a comforting, traditional lunch handcrafted by a local “Okami” (innkeeper). Even in the winter chill, the dome stays warm and sunlit. Sharing fresh rice balls, miso soup, and local vegetable dishes here makes for a truly magical moment. After your meal, you can play in the snow around the dome or simply relax and do absolutely nothing.
This hidden powder-snow experience combines a serene forest trek with a deeply relaxing dining experience inside a transparent dome. Your guide is a local expert who knows every way to enjoy this landscape, and your meal is a heartfelt, homemade lunch using abundant local ingredients. It is a light adventure that adults and children alike can enjoy. If you are seeking a more challenging adventure, your guide can customize the route to include uphill treks or frozen waterfalls. Please let us know your preferences when booking.
