A floor plan that makes the most of the machiya architecture
Machiya are traditional wooden townhouses that define one of the original landscapes of Japan. They are characterized by a long, narrow build and the heavy use of wood and other natural materials. The machiya architecture has been preserved in modern Hida craftsmanship, which can be seen throughout the building of TANIYA.
