DAY 01
The tour begins in Iriyamabe Forest on the outskirts of Matsumoto City. You will walk through the forest with the Maeda family, who run the workshop, and learn about the types of trees, their ecology, and the cycle from felling to reforestation.
After returning to the workshop, you will have the opportunity to actually carve, polish, and shape the wood. Surrounded by the scent of wood, you will experience the process by which artisans create furniture and accessories.
In between production sessions, there will be time to talk with the Maeda family. You will be moved by their philosophy of "living with trees."
